BULB![]() In 1966 Ingo Maurer set up his Design M studio in Munich, later to become the lighting manufacturer Ingo Maurer GmbH which began in 1973. Maurer's first design for a lamp was the Bulb table lamp that pays homage to Thomas A Edisons first commercial light bulb. Its form shows the influence of the American pop culture experienced by Maurer in the early 1960s and in particular the large versions of everyday objects created by American pop artist Claes Oldenburg. The outsize bulb has a chromed metal base with a mouth-blown glass.
