FUNICULI![]() ![]() Funiculi * is a new edition of the original lamp designed in 1979 with small refinements to the shade and base details. The designer, Luis Porqueras, always looked for simplicity in design, avoiding anything superfluous to the form and function of the object. As a result the 30 year old design is still relevant to contemporary applications. The name derives from the action of going up and down and relates to the simple spring clip mechanism for raising and lowering the lamp. The shade itself rotates through 360 degrees to point the light in any direction. The stem, shade and base are metal with a rubber cover to the base to soften the contact with the floor. * Funiculi Funicula is a Neopolitan song written by Peppino Turco in 1880 to commemorate the opening of the first funicular cable car on Mount Vesuvius and made famous by Mario Lanza.
