PH 4/3![]() This table lamp is a member of the PH 3 family in which the design principle was to achieve maximum lighting efficiency whilst at the same time providing a glare-free performance. The solution was to place the light source at the centre of a shade structure based on a logarithmic spiral. The shade sizes are approximately in a ratio 3 : 2 : 1 and the transition of light, reflected from the shade above, decreases evenly in a harmonious way. This simple principle was the basis for a large variety of luminaires in which the size and positioning of multiple shades provided a flexible range of glare-free solutions from pendants to table lamps. The shades are spun aluminium, painted gloss white above and matt white below, with a polished chrome base and stem. A switch is located in the base.
