What is an Incandescent lamp?

A light source in which light is produced by heating a filament to the point at which it gives off light  [incandescence].

It is also generic term commonly used to describe the domestic light bulb or general service lamp [GLS]

Much of the electrical energy applied is converted to heat.

Incandescent lamps are dimmable.
