What is a dichroic lamp ?

A tungsten halogen lamp incorporating a reflector with a multi-layered coating. The coating reflects forwards certain wavelengths - usually those that produce visible white light - and transmits backwards other wavelengths such as infra-red.

They are sometimes referred to as "cool beam" lamps because most of the heat energy is transmitted backwards rather than forwards.

These lamps are dimmable.
