Installation

What is a transformer used for ?

A transformer is a device that transfers an electric current from one circuit [primary] to another circuit [secondary].

In a domestic context for example, it is used to change the primary mains voltage supply [230V] into a secondary low voltage supply [12V or 24V] to run a typical low voltage lighting installation.
